Dresser Makeover

So there were so many yard sales this past holiday weekend I just couldn't pass up stopping for a good deal. Needless to say my hubby was not the happiest seeing that we already have way too much stuff for our small apartment. I was glad after I finished that he was excited to make a spot for it.

So this is what I started with...a $5 plastic "wood" dresser.

Don't you just love the green and pink nail polish paint job?

After some sanding and a coat of some white spray paint...

...and some light wood gloss painted on to give some texture...

WA LA!!! I have a whole new shabby chic-ish dresser!!!!

(Again, sorry for the poor pictures and all the shadows...we live in the woods!)

Wedding Reminiscing

We attended our first wedding of this year last night and it made me think back to hubby and my special day last August. I am so in love with our pictures and our photographers from M2-Photography.

I just had to link the video of a few of the beautiful shots they captured. Click on "Wedding Reminiscing" at the top of this post.

Noah's Ark Baby Shower

So my little sister is being blessed with her second child. This time its a boy!!! So to help her get started, seeing that her first was a girl, I decided to have a small baby shower for her. Noah's ark was the theme. We had an entire outdoor party planned at my grandmother's. My hubby had even rushed to put in a cute little walkway as I scrubbed off the mildewed porch. Needless to say, on the day of the party, the wind was crazy and it was cold!!! So the party was moved indoors to a much smaller space. I don't have the greatest pictures but you can see the food takes up the entire dining room!

My aunt cooked up some easy and delicious cupcakes (my sister's favorite) and I used some fondant to sculpt some animals sitting on them 2 by 2. I saw some gorgeous pictures of others who had done so and I thought I would attempt it as well. About 5 hours later this is what I came out with. Not as great as I had hoped for, but the family was impressed.

We even had some water animals added to the punch bowl. It was cute and easy! We made some punch by mixing some blue Hawaiian Punch, Sprite, and some green frozen sherbet, threw in some washed off bath toys, and Ta-Da....it was a hit!!!

My beautiful sister and niece. What a blessing. Little Mason will be here any day now!

She May Be It

What are we getting ourselves into??? It is funny how life happens. Did you ever have a time when everything just starts piecing itself together? Like the fact that the hubby called his old employer (Mr. C.) to ask for advice on starting his own business and Mr. C. asked him to come work for him...as a partner!!! All of this while my the hubby's grandparents are trying to sell their home, a perfect opportunity for us to become homeowners!!! Let me tell you about the power of prayer because all of the people involved in this situation have been praying for a long time...having no clue what the "answers" to their problems were...and this is how it's happening!!! But yes, excited as I am for new possibilities, it is scary!! Did I mention this is where my hubby grew up...not where I have lived my entire life! or the fact that I need to leave my very reliable job and look for a new one!!! But life's an adventure right?! And it is clear who is in charge of this adventure. Thanks to Big Man Upstairs!!

Beautiful Flowers

Just some beautiful flowers collected from my mom's home. I've been dog sitting since she is away cruising the Bahamas....so while she is enjoying her beautiful surroundings, I thought I'd "borrow" some beautiful ones from her house!!!

Getting the Tush in Gear

Yesterday morning I woke up and found myself starring at a 30 pound lighter version of myself. A photography project from college, my husband had taken a collage of photographs of me some of which are displayed in his bedroom at his parents' house. So needless to say on our visit to the in laws this weekend, I awoke starring at a picture of my flat stomach....from 4 years ago. Sadly, that flat stomach looks much different now and I have less than a month now until my first beach trip of the season...and I cannot even fit into my shorts from last summer!!! So today starts my first day of healthy food only!!!! Oh yes...and that gym membership I've been paying for for the past year and a half....its going to get used!!!! ...right now I'm enjoying a Tomato Mozzarella Omelet and I'm actually surprised at how delicious it is tasting!!!! I'm not too bad at this cooking stuff when I give it a try LOL!!!! Wish me luck!!!

Living Update

So getting married to the love of my life has been wonderful, wonderful, wonderful...but there are some big changes we had to decide on. As a matter of fact, it took us a while to make some decisions. For example we didn't live together for the first 3.5 months of our marriage. Living 2.5 hours apart from one another and visiting on the weekends was not working. Obviously most people would assume this, but we both had stable jobs(in an unstable economy)and we both were making about the same income so the choice was not easy to say the least. Hubby finally made the move out to my apartment after being in a pretty scary car accident while at work. Needless to say we backed out of the Riverfront Bungalow #2 (a beautiful non-fixer up that we found the day we were going to put the contract on the fixer upper!) Money lost but we were so grateful that the sellers were so sweet. After repairing the hole in the ceiling where my lovie had "fallen through" from the attic, they returned the left over money we had put down. So our life has been a roller coaster ride for the past few months but who says roller coasters aren't fun?! While it can be scary, it has also been a exciting adventure! Hubby has had numerous job offers but not the right one...and I have been blessed to still have a teaching job that I can count on. As the school year comes to an end we are again debating to stay where I grew up or to move back to where his family is from. It seems like he has some pretty good job prospects out that way so we may be looking to head back out in that direction. We are feeling the itch inside of us once again to have our own place. Apartment living is not our favorite... our make-shift garden will only do for so long!
